The beginning

The idea of a Hostel started from the pleasure and wish of two young people to travel and to be surrounded by people that share the same passion: travelling, discovering new places, exploring, relaxing and living unique moments in special places.

We have chosen the house where our grandparents have lived the past 30 years as location for our hostel, a traditional saxon house, in a quiet location and full of history of the city of Sibiu. By this hostel, we want to keep the tradition and history of this area of the city alive and to offer an unforgettable experience to all the tourists that choose to stay with us.

The name of our hostel comes from the German name of a neighborhood  of  Sibiu, Gusterita, which is also the location of our hostel. Gusterita was a saxon establishment, incorporated into the city of Sibiu in the 1940s.

We have chosen to preserve the saxon architecture of the house and the facilities and equipment of the rooms have been updated in order to satisfy our guests’needs and expectations.

We are looking forward to knowing you and to offer you a pleasant and relaxing experience, while you are visiting our beautiful medieval city, Sibiu.

Location

The hostel is located in a quiet and easily accessible area of the city, 6 minutes by car to the city center (2,6 km), 1,8 km to the train station, bus station in 100 m.

The name of our hostel comes from the German name of a neighborhood of  Sibiu, Gusterita, which is also the location of our hostel. Gusterita was a Saxon establishment, incorporated into the city of Sibiu in the 1940s.

Gusterita (Hammersdorf) is the oldest populated area of the city of Sibiu, as it is today. There was here a Roman fortress (named Caedonia) and also at least one slavonic community, whose necropolis was discovered by archaeologists.

Among the main attractions to be visited in Gusterita neighborhood, we can mention the Lutheran Church built at the beginning of the 13th century and the Gusterita Hill monument (Falkenhayn’s Tower), built in 1882. During the 1st World War, the tower played a strategical military role, as it ensured the control of the city of Sibiu, due to its dominant position.
